Basic aims:  The aim of the course is to provide both theoretical and
applied knowledge about husbandry techniques of dairy
and beef ruminants (cattle, sheep, goat) in particular for
intensive farm system
Acquired skills:  skills and tools for technical assessment of different cattle
and goat production systems in order to manage farms as
a technician or consultant
Course contents:  Unit 2 of the course focuses on the husbandry and feeding
techniques of goats, sheep and buffaloes (Bubalus
bubalis).
The course highlights the aspects of environmental
sustainability, animal welfare and food quality and safety

The program includes some technical visits to buffalo and
goat farms
Prerequisites:  Basic knowledge of inorganic and organic chemistry;
morphology and physiology of digestive system,
reproductive apparatus and mammary gland; basic
knowledge of nutrition and feeding of ruminant animals;
knowledge of farming system management and animal
breeding strategies
Preparatory instructions:  The attendance of the course of Nutrition, feeding and
animal husbandry is suggested

course which will focus on both teaching units in
